Cambridge Summer Music Festival

Every summer, visitors from all over the world experience outstanding music in the chapels and halls of the historic University Colleges in Cambridge – some not usually open to visitors.

There’s no other festival quite like it. But unless we raise enough money there won’t be any Festival like it at all, and Cambridge will echo only to the sound of bicycle bells next summer.

So, just as soon as we’ve raised £50,000 we can present over 50 concerts bringing musical joy and inspiration to over 8,000 people, not just adults, but children, who discover the beauty of great classical music and get to play themselves.

Here’s how we’re going to do it. In April 2008 we’re going to stage a noSHOW Prom, with music performed by the largest noSHOW orchestra in the world.

Exactly what is a noSHOW Prom?

The noSHOW Prom a virtual concert for which you can buy tickets to not attend or join the orchestra to not perform your favourite work.

All the Show without the go in fact!

no need to organise babysitters, worry about parking or risk inclement weather.

Buy Tickets: You simply pay on line and download your ticket, which is beautifully designed, personalised and worthy of framing, and relax at home.

Promenade tickets are as little as £1.

Who performs? What’s the programme

Join the Orchestra: Ever dreamt of performing in an orchestra? Ever wished you’d actually learnt to play something? Well now you can! £1 will secure you an orchestral contract for this noSHOW concert in the form of a personalised poster.

You can play anything – perhaps even your own composition. You choose!

For starters, we can say that Beethoven’s long-awaited Symphony no.10 in E flat major (the Hypothetical), conducted by Sir Simon Rattle is on the list of works not to be performed, along with many others.

Opt to not perform in our noSHOW orchestra, playing a work of your choice – and you could even aspire to the giddy heights of soloist without having to attend a single rehearsal, let alone be able to actually play your instrument of choice, (this year we’re a mite short of Peruvian nose flautists).

To see what all the fun is about and support a great cause you’ll need to register as a noSHOW Promenader.
